Lee Addison Ault was a reporter (Newsweek), art collector, dealer (Lee Ault & Company, 1969–1978) and publisher (Vision Incorporator, Quadrangle Press, Art in America 1957–1969). At Quadrangle Press Ault published illustrated monographs and books on or by artists such as, among others, Joan Miró (1893–1983), Alexander Calder (1898–1976), and Rufino Tamayo (1899-1991). Calder. Ault’s gallery Lee Ault & Company located on Madison Avenue, exhibited works by such contemporary artists (Armando Morales, Elizabeth de Cuevas, Judith Rothschild and Bernard Langlais), West African and Pre-Columbian art. Ault served as a director of the Skowhegan (Maine) School of Painting and Sculpture, a trustee of both the Friends of the Whitney Museum of American Art and of the American Federation of the Arts. |
